New York is beautiful when it snows. For a magical, brief moment, the concrete jungle gets wrapped in a swirling white blanket. The Big Apple appears as though it’s floating on puffy white clouds. It’s one of the rare times when the city that never sleeps slows down, if only slightly.
Usually as the end of January approaches, NYC has seen a significant amount of snow. Not this year! We’ve had a snow shower here and there, but the only time snow stuck was that premature #Snowvember! Not to whine about the weather…but I miss it! As a San Francisco native who didn’t grow up with snow. I find myself looking out the window, seeing zero flakes or banks, and reminiscing about snow falls past…
While we wait for answers to the FAQ, “When will it snow, NYC?”, let me share a dozen of my favorite times seeing snow in some of New York’s most cliché iconic place.
1. Rockefeller Center
2. Central Park
3. Battery Park
4. Times Square
5. The High Line
6. Flatiron
7. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral
8. Harlem
9. Bryant Park
10. From above
11. Union Square
12. First Street Green Art Park
I’m trolling the 10 day forecast on weather.com and the only chance of snow is at the very end of it! In February! I’m crossing my fingers we get a good snow fall soon. This list proves I need to broaden my snow horizons from just Manhattan. I’d love to see snow in Prospect Park in Brooklyn and at the Unisphere in Queens.
I feel like I’m always in Times Square during the big blizzards! I love it there when there’s no cars and no people. It’s the best time to be in Times Square, honestly!
