25 Adorably Costumed Doggos from the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade 2018

It’s Monday, news from the weekend makes the world seem bleaker than ever, and there’s an autumn chill in the air that I’m still struggling to dress appropriately for. Ugh. The only thing that’s getting me through today is puppies. Yesterday I got to see hundreds of adorable puppies in wildly creative costumes at one of my favorite NYC events of the entire year, the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade 2018. I’m sharing my favorites with you right here, right now, so you can get through Monday too!

25 Favorites from Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade

1. A Chuckie so cute he’ll make you want to watch that terrifying movie again.

2. An incredibly impressive Alice and Wonderland trio

3. A darling pair of Chiquita Bananas

4. “You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.” (If only they were all this freaking cute!)

5. A pun-derful”Biggie Paws”

6. Subtle, hilarious, and a nod to NYC- the greyhound is dressed as the infamous Chinatown bus

7. A stunning Sally Ragdoll, Jack Skellington, and Zero (who you might recognize from the excellent NYC blog Girl in Gotham City)

8. A tiny, but enormously ominous Count Dracula

9. The sweetest Banana Split

10. A thoroughly “Awwwww!” inducing Cookie Monster

11. A hot slice of Scottish Pizza

12. Picture-perfect dog food

13. A Venom so cute he almost makes me forget I have no desire to see the film

14. Furry flower power!

15. A disgusting but meticulously executed Dump Trump

16. A ghostly lady and her footmen

17. A special fur ball delivery

18. 3 cows milking this event for the best photo ops

19. This mad fly mix master “DJ Tut”

20. A dog so chill and beautiful, the costume (maybe a monkey?) doesn’t matter

21. A full roarin’ 20s “Barkeasy” with an impressive attention to detail

22. Awesome Abe Lincolns

23. Another adorable Alice and White Rabbit duo

24.  A tie-dye dragon frenchie surveying the scene at River Side Park Amphitheater where this event was held for the very first time

25. A fiesta pup who approves of the last minute location- there was never seating like this in actual Tompkins Square Park!

The Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade was almost completely canceled this year. Then at the last minute, ESPN swooped in to provide corporate sponsorship and East River Park was secured as the new location. It still had the same feeling of the Tompkins Square Park in the East Village, the added space was welcome!

Everyone wins at this event, as far as I’m concerned. Here are the official Costume Contest winners receiving their trophies.

  1. Love this so much!!! Thank you for the feature, it was so great meeting you (officially, anyway) on Sunday. You took some amazing photos of this event, and captured it so beautifully! <3

  2. Those are some cute dog pictures. My sister would love this because she’s got a little dog named Oscar that only weighs 6 lbs.
thank you for sharing. It definitely put a smile on my face.

  3. The Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade sounds like the perfect way to lift your spirits on a gloomy Monday! The creativity and cuteness of the costumes, from adorable Chiquita Bananas to a chilling Count Dracula, are enough to make anyone smile. It’s great to see that even though the parade faced cancellation, it found a new home and continued to bring joy to so many people and their furry friends. Those dogs must have brought a lot of warmth and laughter to a chilly autumn day!
