Saturday Street Art: Who Had to Follow Up Banksy on the Bowery Wall?

Banksy has officially left the Bowery. Some brave artist had to follow up the most well known street artist in the world- can you imagine?

Remember Banksy’s return to NYC on the Bowery Wall? This new mural by Tristin Eaton couldn’t be more different. Banksy’s Bowery was stark, simple, almost exclusively black and white. The political message was powerful. Eaton’s wall is chock-a-block full of color and so many different details. I’m slightly confused by the “Intermission” message…but I’m pretty confident it’s not political.  Read More

Weekly New York Minutes #24

Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” Here we go for this 4th of July holiday week…

Spotted this little dinosaur just hanging out at a construction site in Brooklyn, sporting the hippest hair-do! Is he art or a lost toy? It’s anyone’s guess! Read More

FREE Writing Workshops in Bryant Park this July? Sign Me Up!

You know I’ve been writing this blog for 10 years, you know for the past 8 months I dedicate time to writing every single day. I’ve loved writing since I was a little kid. I started the habit of journaling at age 11. Writing is something comes naturally to me. So it might surprise you to learn that beyond basic high school curriculum, I have never taken a writing class.

I’d like to put this uninspired Never Have I Ever to rest. There’s no doubt I have much to learn and no question that I’d get a lot out of a writing class. But just like everything else in NYC, writing classes cost a pretty penny. Every time I almost fork over the $400 to hone my creative writing skills…the money ends up going somewhere else.

I’m procrastinating on taking a writing class. Sounds write.

But this summer, my biggest excuse for not taking a class has been obliterated.

It is officially summer in the city! I, for one, am sweaty and loving my favorite season. Here’s what I love most about NYC summer, outdoor activities that absolutely make the sweltering streets worth it!

When the Moon Hits Your Eye Like a Surprise Date Night in Little Italy NYC

So you want to delight and impress your New York Cliché girlfriend?

I’ve got some tips for you, fresh from a unexpected NYC date night!

1. Surprise her outside her work with flowers. (You know how much she loves flowers. In fact, she might have once said they are better than sex!)

2. Take her to dinner at a tapas place in Nolita.

3. After indulging in so many yummy plates, walk to Little Italy for gelato and an intriguing “almond cheesecake cone”.

4. Eat the sweets while sitting on a sidewalk bench with your sweetie. Take a picture of the giant smile on her face.

She’ll love it so much, she’ll probably write a blog post all about it. Trust me, I know. Especially on a Monday.
