New York City has been consumed with complaining about the weather for…basically as long as I can remember. Well, this weekend we got to shut the fuck up and frolick a bit because IT FINALLY FELT LIKE SPRING. Not only that, it also looked like spring!
I ran to Central Park and threw myself into as many flowers as possible.
All of NYC was in Central Park with me! New Yorkers flocked to Sheep Meadow like pigeons to an overturned hotdog cart.
We’re so starved for warmth and sunlight, we had to take in every minute possible. Who the hell knows, it could still snow again! Or rocket into humid and sweltering overnight! We just don’t know any more.
So we’re savoring ever moment of lovely spring weather we can.
CENTRAL PARK SPRING
Climate change: forcing us to live in the moment.
If we no longer complain about the weather, we can focus our bitching energies on the important things – like the MTA and the embarrassment in the White House who’s name is on many a New York building. Aw man…I’m gonna miss complaining about the weather!
Ha ha hahahaha. Said no one ever! There are plenty of hot garbage smells to complain about in the very near future!
For now, I’m savoring every single moment of this:
Get yourself to the middle of Manhattan for some Central Park spring, while all the flowers are in bloom! The magnolias by the Met are at peak already and so pretty. See what I mean: Central Park Magnolia Blossoms Are So Beautiful They Need Their Own Festival. The Conservatory Gardens are starting to flower and should be in full beauty soon- many people don’t know about this garden on the Upper East Side of the park but it is so, so worth visiting this time of year: Spring Splendor in Central Park’s Conservatory Garden.
Where’s your favorite place to enjoy the loveliness of spring?
Wasn’t it a fun weekend with the spring weather? We must have been right behind you. JAM went nuts on the blooms and the tulips and especially the children in Sheep Meadow.

It was so so nice!! Would’ve been so fun to bump into you! Tulips are my favorite too. I’m excited for cherry blossoms to peak! Hope you can take in a good walk of them!
Hey Mary,
I was enjoying all those blossoms, too! And I would like to add Shakespeare Garden (also in Central Park) and the Westside Community Garden’s Tulip Festival (83 W 89th St) to your list.
Kind regards,
Petrins
Great recommendations! I’ve actually blogged about the Westside Community Garden’s Tulip Festival in the past – I should have linked the post, you’re right! http://newyorkcliche.com/2016/05/10/west-side-community-garden-tulip-festival/Also one of my favorite magnolia trees is in the Shakespeare Garden, but I really should devote a whole post to it – shame Belvedere Castle is closed for a while!
You’re so lucky having Central Park to enjoy the spring weather in! Nikki x

I knooooowww. I feel lucky every day! Hope you can visit in the spring sometime! Although you certainly can’t count on the weather cooperating!
Holy wow, I wish Florida could look THIS frickin’ colorful in spring! Sure, we have lots of green trees and all, but the only place I can see this much color anywhere is in a botanic garden. I’m trying to go to NYC soon to visit them all, honestly.
NYC puts on a wonderful show for spring and it’s so important after the bleak gray of winter!! I’m from San Francisco, so I totally understand the no-seasons blues though! I’m right with you- but opposite 🙂 = I’d love to visit Florida next winter
