Yesterday was Easter which means many things to many people. To me it means the chance to attend one of my very favorite events all year– the NYC Easter Bonnet Parade! Why do I love this event so much? Don’t worry, I won’t just tell you, I’ll show you. I needn’t remind you that ol’ cliché: A picture’s worth a thousand words. At this event, wager their worth even more:
“Everyone Loves New York”: A Perfectly Titled Book (Review)
Artists, creativity, and New York City: these are a few of my favorite things. Delightfully, all three are crammed into every page of the most aptly titled book I’ve read in quite some time:
Everyone Loves New York
Edited by Leslie Jonath and distributed by teNeues Publising, Everyone Loves New York features 85 pieces of art work that are visual love letters to the Big Apple. They each manage to capture a feeling of what life here is like: the frenetic pace, the way this town can feel so expansive one moment and so tiny the next, the colorful people all with different stories, the towering iconic buildings. The Most Intriguing Online Dating Message Ever
There are some online dating messages you just don’t reply to. I shared 19 of them last week with the post 19 Reasons I Didn’t Reply to Your Online Dating Message. Anyone who’s tried online dating has received some awful messages. I heard from a lot of you guys about your online experiences, which was awesome! Commiserating about online dating makes it so much better!
Some who have received ones that are WAY worse than mine.
Maca-What? Macaron Day!
At this point, my Macaron Day expertise is on par with Stephen Dubner’s knowledge of macroeconomics.
Maca-what?
Macaron Day! Sunday March 20th was NYC’s 7th annual maca-nificent celebration of spring and sweetness. It was my fourth year maca-raiding pastry shops. Sacre bleu! I have eaten so many macarons!
19 Reasons I Didn’t Reply to Your Online Dating Message
If you’re single in 2016, you try online dating. If you try online dating, you likely have questions:
How do I write a successful message?
Why aren’t people replying to my messages?
Why is my inbox full of messages that have nothing to say?
How do I attract people I actually want to date?
The cliché is that women get a ton of messages. From my personal experience, that is true. I get a lot of messages, but I have no interest in 90% of them. The majority are boring, clearly copy/pasted, and do absolutely nothing to start a conversation. In the online world “You’re so beautiful” makes me roll my eyes and assume you type the same thing into every message box. Sad, isn’t it? I only respond to messages that show the person read my profile. It seems simple but so few people actually do it!
Want to know why I don’t reply to 90% of messages I receive? I won’t just tell you, I’ll show you, with examples from my very own inbox:
Attending a Live Taping of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee in NYC
“Women aren’t funny.”
Say that cliché or imply it in any way and -HEY-OH- I hate you.
I’m not joking.
You know funny women, I know funny women. We are everywhere. Everywhere, I say! Until you look at a writers room, a comedy club, or the late night television circuit. It’s 2016 and there are so few women in those places, it’s not even funny. At all.
When I learned the first late night news show hosted by a woman was filming in NYC I said, FUCK YES! I MUST SUPPORT THIS! As both a millennial and a New York cliché, I obviously do not have cable. Thus I couldn’t just watch Full Frontal with Samantha Bee on air every Monday night at 10:30pm on TBS. So I did something that wasn’t quite as easy as punching a remote while lying in bed, but was still pretty easy and even more fun!
I attended a live taping of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee!
Spring Fever Running Rampant in 77 Degree NYC
Wow. I now know what it’s like to have all my dreams come true. Faster that I ever thought possible.
This has nothing to do with hard work. This is all about dumb luck and probably climate change!
