June New York Minutes

Usually on Fridays I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” This month, the weekly post just didn’t happen so I’m sharing them all in one go! Here are some New York minutes from June:

Park Avenue Lemonade Stand

Outside an apartment building on Park Avenue and 75th Street, definitely in the top 1% of luxury addresses in NYC, two little girls were selling lemonade and cookies. Best deal on the Upper East Side, I bought a big Solo cup of their strawberry-infused lemonade for just $1. I’ve happened across these urban lemonade stands before, they always warm the cockles of my heart and I always buy a cup (if I have any cash! Though I wouldn’t be surprised if these savvy Gen-Z tykes accepted Venmo…)

New York Festival of Flowers

For a week in June, flowers took over a couple iconic NYC locations. This was a preview for 2020 when L.E.A.F. flower show invades the entire city. I’m already excited for June 2020! Lewis Miller Design designed these flowers around Atlas by Rockefeller Center. Lewis Miller is famous for his flower bombs, created from blooms left over after events. I follow him on Instagram and always try to track down the #flowerbombs he shares.

Handmaid’s Tale at the Flatiron

Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale premiered this month and to promote the show, Hulu set up 140 mirrored statues in front of the Flatiron Building. Why? Because New York City has 145 statues of historical men and ONLY 5 (!!!) of historical women. WHAT!? Eye-opening and thanks Hulu for opening our eyes to this nutso fact. I’m behind on this show, just started Season 2…

Subway Track Barbie

Speaking of promotions, here’s a promotion for a line of New York Cliché merchandise: Subway Track Barbie! What do you guys think?

Bubbles on the Subway

Torn between 2 sides of my soul by this sight on the subway. My San Francisco delighted, OOO FLOATING RAINBOW ORBS and my New Yorker side glaring, THE SUBWAY IS NOT THE PLACE FOR BUBBLES! FFS!

New York Philharmonic in Central Park

Summer in the city is all about outdoor free events. The NY Philharmonic plays free concerts in NYC bigger parks every June. Thousands of New Yorkers gather with picnic blankets to listen. My friends like to sit waaay in the back here so we can chat without bothering anyone!

Flower Fridays

My fella just started Summer Fridays, which means he has all Fridays through August off from work. Is this a thing in other cities? I do not have such a luxury so color me HASHTAG JELLY. Well, the guy knows how to quell my green-eyed monster- he met me at my office after work on Friday with flowers. And then he took my picture in front of this fabulous Warhol wall on Park Ave and 55th.

Happy summer everyone! I’m going to try to get back on the Weekly Minutes wagon after week’s holiday. We’re going up to Maine like we did 2 years ago and I CANNOT WAIT to get out of town! Do you have fun 4th of July plans? Share in the comments!

  1. Awesome post! I love these!
That kid was on a bubble attack on the train!😂
I’ve been attacked by bubbles but in my line of work, it’s not a complete surprise. I basically supply the kids with bubbles so I can’t be too shocked when they turn on me with them.
