Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” Here we go for this wacky warm Feburary week…
Girls’ brunch at The Bonnie in Astoria, Queens. One of my best friends visited NYC over the weekend so brunch was pretty much mandatory. We sat and chatted over toast (french and avocado) and cocktails. This bar/restaurant off the last stop of the N/W train in Queens has seriously inventive drinks that allowed us to drag out brunch for almost three hours. We recommend the Bonnie Punch!
Passing a skate park with the Empire State Building in the background. The weather did a 180 and climbed up into the 60s on Wednesday. I was way on the west side by Chelsea Piers and saw this skate park full of people, enjoying the non-icy slopes. The sun was setting and the light bathed the scene in a lovely glow that this photo doesn’t exactly capture. That building in the far right is the Empire State!
Gave my consent to be in a movie. I walked by a bustling film set in the Meat Packing district. I have no idea what they were shooting, but according to this sign, it’s totes possible that walk could be my big break!
Saw signs of life on the High Line. I have no idea what this plant it but it is striking and a stand out amid the bleak mid winter! It was warm enough this week for casual High Line strolls.
Found a “Currated By Goodwill” pop up shop in Chelsea Market. Chelsea Market is known to have pop up shops and sample sales, but I did a double take when I saw this trendy looking display was by GOODWILL! If only my my teenaged self, who was mortified that her mom shopped at Goodwill, could see me now. Goodwill seems to be leaning into the Marie Kondo craze with this pop up during Fashion Week no less! Clothing was price above standard Goodwill prices, but only moderately so! Check it out if you’re near 16th Street and 9th Ave this weekend.
Nice post
