I’ve reached a new level of NYC obsession. I now love NYC inside and out. See, it’s not enough to have New York all around me the minute I step outside my apartment! I need it inside my apartment too!

I was on a mission to find the perfect New York City art piece to hang in my apartment.

When you live in a tiny shoe box of a #newyorkcliche apartment, space is a premium. This includes wall space. The one place in all of New York City that is mine, all mine? I want it to be vibrant, creative, and colorful.

Finding the right piece was completely overwhelming. Comb the internet and you’ll find approximately 8 million different prints capturing this city of 8 million people. Great, one for each! How the hell to choose? And once I choose, what if the quality is shit??

 

I got really lucky. Like when-you-descend-the-subway-steps-and-train-is-there-waiting-for-you lucky.  A company called Photowall swooped in and saved me from being crushed under the weight of too many options. The package was a bit intimidating when it arrived. Photowall sends you everything you need to assemble the canvas…but I’m kind of a klutz who’s not great at following directions…

After some hesitation (No! I can do this! I don’t need to wait for my boyfriend to help me, I GOT THIS!) I opened the box.

Isn’t it fun? It fits right in with my Choose Rainbow Sprinkles aesthetic/life motto. A fitting capture of my gritty, messy, magical, dreamy, concrete jungle, city. I specified the dimensions I wanted and they printed it exactly to fit. I’ve seen other places do something similar, but Photowall really offers maximum customization.

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea to have a wall print that looks like it could be composed of actual tea splatters…but I love it. I really didn’t want to ruin it in the self-assembly!

All that worry about assembly for nothing! They actually, really, seriously make it easy to put together. No tools necessary! my kind of wood-working project!

Voila! New York City IN MY HOME! You will likely see this mural again…I’m contemplating using it as a background for some video projects in the works….
