Sometimes you have to make hard choices in life. Tonight after long, long week, where it still isn’t Friday, I chose to get brews with a blogger instead of writing a full blog post.

I knew I made the right choice as soon as I got to the bar and was greeted by this tall, colorful, and handsome man.

When Julianne, the brilliant blogger behind New York’s best drinking blog It’s Five O’Clock Here, suggested getting drinks at Five Mile Stone bar, I immediately said yes. I didn’t even read the fine print that would have alerted me that this was an event for Coney Island Brewery’s Freak Week.

A man on stilts, a sword swallower, and a caricature artist walk into a bar…all to get the word out that Coney Island Brewery has four brand spanking new fall brews! You can read all about each of them and get the full 411 on Freak Week over at It’s Five O’Clock Here:

Thanks Julianne for alerting me to this fun event! Seriously, if you are a New Yorker who loves drinking and travel (um, hello everyone), this is a blog you must follow.

I wasn’t kidding about the caricature artist! I always look scornfully at the New York cliché tourists sitting on the curbs of Times Square, posing for a caricature. But it is really fun! Especially if you’ve been drinking delicious, free, local beer!
