Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some others that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” Here we go for this mid April week that looks but doesn’t feel like spring…
It feels like spring the whole walk across Park Avenue. There are flowers all over the city. When the sun comes out, it really, really looks like spring. But it’s been in the 40’s all week, often very windy and rainy, and NYC is just so cranky about the weather. We are dying to banish out winter coats and have a real reason to get a pedicure! My blogger bud Ali captures the city’s feelings very accurately in this post: Make Your Own Sunshine (it’s a great post, I promise- she acknowledges the cheese of title immediately.)
The flowers aren’t just planted by NYC Parks & Rec either! Trees are blooming! I walked by this lovely white pear tree here above on Broome Street in Soho. You’ll also see magnolia trees and cherry blossoms are starting! But if you look over the door of the brick church in this photo, you see a CHRISTMAS WREATH. Definitely an accidental metaphor for the annoy winter/spring thing we got going on.
If there’s one thing that’ll make me stop talking about the fucking weather it’s A PUPPY! My boss got a puppy!! His name is Rocco and he’s stupid adorable, completely squirmy, and awfully hard to photograph!
I killed some time waiting for my fella who was running late in Bryant Park’s reading room! Free events are coming out of hibernation! Bryant Park’s Reading Room is now open for the season. You can sit in this north corner of the park and read a large selection of magazines, newspapers, and children’s books they have on hand! You don’t have to check them out, it’s an enforced honor system- pretty awesome that exists in NYC in 2018, no?
I went on a walk on my lunch break, to this corner of NYC I’d never been before! The eastern most edge of 51st Street. There’s not much here besides a dog park, the FDR, and pretty sweet views.
We extended our stay here to enjoy the spring again. Just like you, we’re waiting for it to show up!

Oh I really hope you get to enjoy NYC spring to its fullest warm, sunny, loveliness! May is usually the best month- fingers crossed!
Nice photos! The tulips are gorgeous.
Thanks so much! Tulips are my favorite flower 🙂 🙂
