Caprices by Sophie: The Willamsburg Coffee Shop That’s Perfect for Working and French Pastry Nomming

Sometimes you just need a little treat. One of those times I happened upon a cute coffee shop in Williamsburg.

Write FRENCH PASTRY in the window and it’s hard for me to pass by! Caprices is best known for their cream puffs. Under the glass counter top you’ll find a delightful array of adorable, circular desserts.

Brioche buns, eclairs, cream puffs, and (gluten free) meringues all in a row…

It’s not always easy in America to find a little treat. We have infamous portion control issues. The French have no such problem! Sophie’s cream puffs are just the right size and not too sweet. The richness of the cream is allowed to take the cake, rather than sweetness.

This is a great little shop to sit and write a blog post or read a book. In fact they even have books on the wall to encourage you to do just that! It’s not a large space, and the location just off Bedford Ave makes me wonder if it’s often hard to get a seat. I had no trouble on a weekday evening.

If it ever actually gets warm, they have a lovely little garden space out back.

Oh lala, my pistachio cream puff!

Caprices by Sophie is located at 138 N 6th St, Brooklyn, NY. They are open 8AM-8PM on weekdays and 9AM-8PM on weekends. They also serve food beyond french pastries, I’ll be back next time I’m in Williamsburg! Merci, Sophie!
