Street Art Saturday: The Kick Ass Mural on the NY Martial Arts Academy

There’s a martial arts studio in Williamsburg covered in a fantastic street art.

If that new Karate Kid spin off Cobra Kai took place in New York City, we now where it would have been filmed.

The art on the NY Martial Arts Academy is very clearly a commissioned mural. The painted figures are aspirational and as I walked by I ABSolutely wondered, “If I start practicing martial arts, will I get abs like this guy?”

The green cat scene on the side garage door is a whole other story. This is well outside the marital arts theme. Was this part of the mural commission? I don’t know, but the addition of the trippy cat landscape makes me love the full work even more.

If this has inspired you to try martial arts, check out the NY Martial Arts Academy here. They specialize in Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do. For more of the works of native New York artist Cern, check out cernesto.com
