Weekly New York Minutes #10

Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” Here we go for technically the first week of spring…

Saying HI to someone HIGH above me on the HIGH Line. I’ve walked past this frame many times along this High Line, but was a welcome perspective change. We had a cute photo swap here, think she’s a tourist (likely) or a NYC blogger like me?

Oh, did you hear? It snowed non-stop the second day of spring. See my face above? That’s how we’re all feeling about it.

Until I stepped out onto this snowy rooftop in Chelsea. My attitude couldn’t help but change from “UGH SNOW” to “AH SO PRETTY”. It was pure, perfect snow and a winter wonderland all to myself.

Bird’s eye view from the roof. I loved seeing all the footprints in the snow, especially these jaywalkers. The city transforms from the typical high-velocity hustle to a much slower speed when it snows. The subways never shut down, but school was canceled and many businesses were closed. There was a feeling of commradery among us New Yorkers who were out in it.

Yes, I was feeling sorry for myself that I had to go to work. Until I saw this fruit cart. If he was at work, outside in a storm, I certainly had nothing to complain about!! NYC fruit carts have good quality, affordable produce – visit them! In any weather!

Bean & Bean Coffee Shop was open during the storm and had this sign out. I could help but laugh – it was like spring, winter, AND fall all at the same time on the corner of 26th and 8th!

Spotted on 10th Avenue by 23rd, a tiny recreation of Mr. Brainwash‘s iconic High Line art! I just updated my post about this work disappearing from the High Line (along with Kobra’s Kiss), so I was elated to find this baby Brainwash on the street!

Those were some interesting moments of my week! How was yours?
