Weekly New York Minutes #6

Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” Today I’m a day late (sorry)…but not a minute short! Enjoy!

Reflecting while on wonderful wanders in the unseasonably warm weather. What a week, we literally had it all in the last 7 days: rain, snow, sleet, sun.

This warm weather scene framed by severely outdated Christmas decorations. It was so warm on Wednesday that restaurants opened their outdoor seating. I walked by a micro-park the the West Village that was still adorned with holiday decor and giggled/snickered at the bizarre contrast!

Life imitating art sold by sidewalk vendors?

Went out to a fancy, fancy five course meal with my mister. MR stands for the restaurant Musket Room not Mr. I’ve never had a meal like this before with exuberant plating and so much negative space on a dish. I enjoyed it but never need really need to go to one of these cliché Michelin Star places again. Anti New York cliche confession: I’m just not a foodie!

When I saw this line of people at this charming little stand in Soho, I of course wondered what they might be waiting? Perhaps ice cream? Free samples of something? You’ll never guess. They are on line for BROTH. Brodo sells cups of sippable bone broth. Only in NYC would you find a line for a health trend like this!

The bone broth line might not been for ice cream, but there were plenty of New Yorkers lining up elsewhere for ice cream this week! Including me with this cone from Big Gay Ice Cream. Delicious.

I passed this firehouse on Lafayette Street in Soho. It is definitely not the Ghostbusters firehouse so I was intrigued by the sign outside. A little internet sleuthing seems to reveal that the original Ghostbusters firehouse is under renovation, and while it is this firehouse has been given its number 8!

What were memorable minutes of your week?
