Sometimes you just find yourself craving a burger. In NYC the go-to when this happens is Shake Shack.
Shake Shack started as a literal shack in Madison Square Park, became a local chain with several locations exclusively in NYC, and now has basically gone on to take over the world. Makes you rethink being pissed when you got SHACK during games of MASH at recess, doesn’t it?
You’ll find the classic ShackBurger© on just about every “NYC’s Best Burgers” list ever compiled. My go-to at Shake Shack, however, might be a little controversial…
I love Shake Shack’s ‘Shroom Burger! 100% vegetarian…no beef about it.
I love Shake Shack’s ‘Shroom Burger! 100% vegetarian…no beef about it. A “crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato, ShackSauce™”. It has the perfect crispness on the outside, making it super satisfying to bite into, and then amazing melty cheese makes a beautiful texture contrast. I’ve never had anything like it anywhere else.
Shake Shack serves beer and wine as well as delicious milk shakes. If you’re in NYC and want a quick, classic NYC bite to eat, this beats the hell out of a food cart hot dog!
Come to think of it, Shake Shack also serves hot dogs too. I’ve never had one, but I bet they are good! They source their meat in a responsible way – especially important for ground beef!
They have over 20 locations in the NYC area, it’s easy to find or just stumble across one!
*Fun fact: my mom always suspected I have mild dyslexia… and with the considerable struggle I had keeping my “Shakes” and “Shacks” correct in this post, I think she was on to something!
