Sometimes you just find yourself craving a burger. In NYC the go-to when this happens is Shake Shack.
Shake Shack started as a literal shack in Madison Square Park, became a local chain with several locations exclusively in NYC, and now has basically gone on to take over the world. Makes you rethink being pissed when you got SHACK during games of MASH at recess, doesn’t it? Read More
The shops on 5th Avenue in New York City go all out for the holiday season. A trip to see the holiday windows is considered a MUST of Christmas time in New York. I’ll be sharing some of the best store displays this year, starting with Bergdorf Goodman.
Berdorf’s, easily the most unique and luxury department store in NYC, always has my favorite holiday windows. This year the theme was New York Institutions. Of course I love it, it’s literally titled:
“To New York With Love” : the 2017 Holiday Windows at Bergdorf Goodman
New York Philharmonic
The neon lights of the instruments pulse on and off, perfectly capturing a rhythm of an orchestra. Read More

Stuffing yourself on Thanksgiving: it’s all-American. I’d say it’s an all-American cliché. When the menu consists of butter-herb turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, and sweet potato casserole, portion control is frowned upon. It couldn’t have been much more traditional or delicious. Do we stop there? It’d be entirely unAmerican! Because there is nothing more American than apple pie. Oh boy was there pie: pumpkin, peanut butter, chocolate, eggnog cheesecake, and I had to sample each one, with whipped cream on top.
The waistband of my dress was a tight when I waddled out the door.
I awoke Friday morning and felt fat. Yeah… a total Girl Cliché! Instead of whining and feeling sorry for myself, I laced up shoes that don’t pinch my feet and set out on a five mile walk. I started at 42nd Street and made my way through the sea of shoppers on 5th Avenue, soon crossing to 6th Avenue where there was more room to breath. Salvation Army bell ringers, store front windows, decorations around buildings- Christmas was coming at me from all directions. It felt odd in the perfect fall weather- a sunny 55 degrees- to still see snowflakes of all shapes and sizes. Fall gets a horrendous truncation in my book. I hold on to summer until the very last moment of September 20th, a month later, it’s the day after Halloween and Starbucks is playing “Let It Snow”.
As Central Park came into view, I knew I’d come to the right place.
I took the LIRR to the thick of suburbia yesterday and celebrated Thanksgiving with my fella’s family.
Look at all those smiling faces! Think they liked me??
It’s nerve-wracking to Meet the Parents! Even when everyone is super nice and welcoming!
I made a pumpkin pecan pie, almost from scratch (thanks Whole Foods for the crust), that I burnt slightly… Which basically sums me up as a person. That pie was me showing my authentic self, in all my 10 minutes over-done but sweet as pie glory. Read More
If you live in NYC and heart NY like all the t-shirts say, there will be times when you find yourself overwhelmed with thankfulness that this is the city you call home. Fleeting, fabulous New York minutes:
1. At a corner in Chelsea that is a perfect trifecta of street art, fall foliage, and New York cliché.
2. Sipping coffee and enjoying a sunny Saturday morning in Soho.
3. Spotting a puppy wearing a freaking tie on the F train.
