New York Weekly Minutes #34

Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” Here we go for the first week of October…

Perhaps as a warm up to the impending most wonderful time of the year, Rockefeller Center gets super festive for fall with hundreds of seasonal mums.

I felt like I’d fallen into the Upside Down of Stranger Things when I looked across the subway and saw this map. Super disorienting, isn’t it?

New York life is like the vats of chocolates at the Lindt store on 5th Avenue: super diverse, colorful, and completely overwhelming with options.

Spotted this giant delivery of flowers in Midtown and I spent the rest of the afternoon wondering what the story behind them was…Such gaudy red roses screams TRYING TOO HARD. Makes you wonder… what kind of fuck up do you think would necessitate such a big bouquet? Is the recipient going to squeal with joy at receiving them? Throw them in the trash in pain and disgust? Feel super embarrassed because EVERY co-worker will ask about them and they take up 60% of desk space? I have so many questions. Twitter offered some theories here.

Whenever I miss my home state of California, I just come down to Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan. It’s a shopping center right across from One World Trade. All the shops are totally out of my price range, but it has indoor palm trees!

Those are little moments of my week. Politics has been putting me in knots of fury, so it’s nice to stop and think of bright little moments. How was your week?
