Weekly New York Minutes #30

Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” Here we go for this back to school week…

Are end-of-summer sunsets extra brilliant? Or do I just appreciate them more, because I know the days are getting shorter? I don’t know the answer, but watching the sunset over Manhattan from the waterfront of my new borough (Queens!) was the most stunning minute of the week.

I’ve been getting really into house plants lately. I have two I’ve kept alive for almost 3 years which gives me all sorts of delusions of green thumb grandeur. This week I saw this dried out, dead bonsai tree sitting in a planter in the Lower East Side. It was comical and tragic all at the same time, just like a good piece of theater. I took it as a warning to not let hubris turn me into a bonsai killer.

I had a meeting on 34th Street and 9th Avenue and the best part was walking back to the subway, towards the Empire State Building bathed in perfect Golden Hour sunlight. When this is part of your daily grind, it makes it hard to complain!

That’s all I have from this week! It was a busy one, half spent in the woods camping. That back to school energy affects me every year, making me want to start projects and be extra productive…Do you know what I mean? How was your week?
