There’s a huge creep on Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. A Peeping Tom over 2 stories tall. He’s the biggest voyeur I’ve ever seen Also the most delightful.
At first I thought he was dabbing- are the kids still doing that these days? Then I realized he’s actually peering in the windows of this long lost S. Beckenstein Fabrics building.
If you’ve been past this brick building, covered in white and yellow advertisements for WOOLENS, SILKS and DRAPERIES, you’ve likely wondered what’s up with it. Does it house an abandoned fabric empire? I don’t blame this giant for looking! I do however, blame him for having a man bun.
The hair style is how you know the art is recent, though! It’s only been up for just over a month!
The work is part of artist JR art show at Perrotin Gallery at 130 Orchard Street. It runs through August 17th so you still have over a week to catch it! JR is perhaps best known for his large street art photo installations, so this piece and location couldn’t be better.
