Every Friday (but this week delayed to Sunday!) I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” But since I’ve spent all this week talking about my California vacation, I’m featuring San Francisco Minutes instead!
Walking on Haight Street, we look up and see this dude sitting in the window of his gorgeous Victorian house reading. Are you fucking kidding me? There’s no way he was actually reading, right? He was just doing this to make us jealous? From across the street, I was convinced he was “reading” something like Jack Kerouac but we walked right underneath him and looked up and saw he was reading a sci-fi book. So I guess he was legit! Okay, but does he really live there, or is this an Airbnb? What app did this guy create to live in such an awesome place? I have so many questions!
Dolores Park is known for it’s amazing view and being a chill place to spend an afternoon lying in the grass sunbathing. Last Saturday a wedding happened in the park and the contrast between typical park loungers – tourists, picnickers, sun bathers, homeless people- and wedding guests was pretty hilarious to watch. The whole park was watching this wedding. Every single person in the area burst into applause when the bride and groom kissed. Then about 10 minutes later, on the other side of the park a couple got engaged and everyone burst into applause again! So much love when the sun is out in San Francisco!
There are so many colorful gardens in San Francisco! Succulents really flourish here, as you can see in this photo, and those vibrant pink flowers are as common as ivy on the east coast. Succulent jungle over concrete jungle, I have to admit.
Have you heard of Lombard Street? The “crookedest street”? It’s a famous block in San Francisco with severe twists and turns. It’s a very popular tourist destination, look at all these sightseers blocking the street! This street is in the neighborhood I grew up in and it has always been crowded, sometimes the line of cars waiting to drive down it stretched back for blocks? My fella wanted to drive down it and fortunately there was no such line. But we had to be careful not to hit any one! People were snapping pictures in the middle of the street without a second thought that it is a STREET.
Those are sweet little moments from my week in San Francisco! This concludes my blogging about my time in SF. Such a great vacations, I hope you enjoyed my sharing it with you. Thanks for reading! It’ll be all NYC minutes and posts next week. Til then- have a great weekend!
