Looking for New York City date night that’s much more original than ye old dinner and a movie? A fun but cheap NYC date idea? Is that even possible? Yes it is! Surprise your date with a sunset game of mini golf in lower Manhattan!
Mini Golf at Pier 25
People don’t believe me when I tell them there is mini golf in Manhattan!
In one of NYC’s trendiest neighborhoods no less, Tribeca. Pier 25 is where you will find NYC’s funky little miniature golf course, along with are stunning views of One World Trade. AND the sunset over Jersey.
Mini golf at Pier 25 is one of the cheapest date nights in New York City. A round costs less than your round trip Metrocard: a steal at only $5 a game!
Is it a great mini gold course? No. Does that matter? Not even a little!
Mini golf at Pier 25 Makes for a perfect NYC date night:
It’s an activity for you to do together!
It’s a reason for some flirty competition! Who ever wins this next hole has to share an embarrassing story.
The are conversation topics galore: Tell me about the mini gold games of your youth? Do you actually like golf? Have you heard Malcolm Gladwell’s podcast and the episode where he talks about how much he hates golf? Are you competitive?
You also get to learn how your date handles hitting a tiny ball – does he get upset when you beat him? Does he try to show off? Does he take the game way too seriously? Is he capable of adding the numbers to keep score?
Will she make you take a photo for the ‘gram?
You can even share a pretzel from the concession stand. Mini golf feels like such a classic, old school, fun date.
Currently, the Pier 25 website proclaims:
The Pier 25 Miniature Golf Schedule is “officially open from 12-6PM, but if the weather is nice will stay open later. As the season gets warmer (perhaps by June 1st), the hours will be from 10AM-10PM.
I kinda love how loosey goosey the hours are right now… It’s a schedule you’d expect from mini golf in the Midwest, not Manhattan! Part of the charm, if you ask me.
Full disclosure on the course: it is very basic. If you go expecting windmills you may be disappointed. Each hole has its challenges and the difficulty does increase the further into the course you get. I like the simplicity. So have the dudes I’ve taken on dates here. Yes, that’s “dudes” plural- this used to be one of my go-to date suggestions!
Honestly, the mini golf at Pier 25 is the only mini golf I have ever played (well, besides a mini golf art installation on Governor’s Island)! I grew up in San Francisco where mini golf just was not a thing!
Do you think mini golf makes for a fun date? Can you believe that mini golf in Manhattan is this cheap? Do you have a mini golf story from your youth to share?
Definitely someplace JAM and I will have to check out. Haven’t played mini golf since the mid Seventies. Also have a good mini-golf story. We lined up a blind date for my friend (who was a golf pro). On the mini golf course, his date beat him pretty soundly and the guy blew his top. He threw a tantrum bigger than my little sister at the grocery store when she was a toddler. It was one of my most embarrassing mini golf games until he went home and then it became my funniest.

Having grown up on the Jersey Shore I can attest to mini golf being one of the best dates you can go on. It encourages conversation, fun, and let’s you get a little glimpse into the psyche of the person you are playing with.
But as a lover of all kinds of golf, I am certainly biased.
Premium golf polos are the way to go for those who value both comfort and style, ensuring a polished look with every swing.
That’s a good activity to doing in New York.
