I’m never thinking about celestial bodies at 6AM. But Wednesday morning at 6:15AM, mere hours away, a super blue blood moon with be visible over Manhattan. I’m pumped!
I stalked the moon my entire walk to the subway tonight. January 31st is the official full blue moon, but to my untrained eye, I never would have guessed it wasn’t full tonight!
After all the excitement of the late summer solar eclipse, it’s a thrill to look up with naked eyes!
Let’s sort out the whole “super blue blood” thing:
A super moon is when the moon is closest to the earth, making it look super big.
A blue moon is when there are 2 full moons in the same month. It has nothing to do with actual color. Also a fun cliché: “Once in a blue moon…” i.e.:
“Once in a blue moon the notorious Empty Train Car is actually empty for no disgusting reason!
“Once in a blue moon there’s no wait for New York brunch!”
A blood moon is when the moon appears slightly red due to a lunar eclipse. The ultimate celestial homage to us ladies and all our “moon cycles”.
Let’s all hope Tom Selleck demands an episode of his show “Blue Bloods” be titled “Super Blue Blood Moon” and that Prince William and Catherine conceive there next child under it.
An almost full moon above the city, a street art mural, and a trendy “upcycled” diner: these are a few of my favorite things.
We’ll see if I actually pry my body out on my warm bed and into the January cold for the hope of early morning moon magnificence… I can already hear my 6AM excuses It’s probably cloudy out anyway!
I know at the least I enjoyed seeing the 96.7% full moon tonight! What do you think? Are you going to get up to see this super blue blood moon?
I watched it from my front door, thru the trees. #differentlives
