Weekly New York Minutes – #1

Some of the fleeting moments in my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!”

Unexpected live stalk lurking betwixt lime green benches.

This heifer is outside Bubby’s Restaurant. Is her name Bubby? I don’t know! I’ve actually never eaten here but Nikki went on on her recent NYC visit- check out her post raving about Bubby’s pancakes

Christmas decorations still up one month after the holiday.

Even the NYPD’s pathetic, but strangely charming, attempt to make police barriers festive at 145th Street subway station.

Forests of Christmas trees on street corners, waiting to be returned to the land.

It seems like it’s taking an extra long time for their pick up this year, no?

Walking through Time Square and getting excited because it’s basically the only place in town that’s not GRAY and DEAD right now!

It had been a while! January is the least touristy time of year in NYC, so the Times Square crowds are pretty bearable.

Seeing TWO Broadway shows this week!

This is why I was in Times Square! I saw “The Children” on Tuesday and John Lithgow’s “Stories by Heart” on Wednesday. Back to back Broadway! I’d recommend them both-  “The Children”, if you like new, thought provoking theatre (it’s a London transfer) a “Stories by Heart” if you want to see a master storyteller in his element. Cheap ticket options are available for both!

A New York Bagel (with a hint of my California roots)

Every since running a Twitter poll asking people their favorite New York bagel, I’ve been craving an Everything (67% of tweeters agree this is their fave)! This beauty is from Zucker’s and yes, I like tomato with my schmear!

Finding a little zen in the city that never sleeps.

I finally went to MNDFL after hearing my boyfriend rave about it for months. MNDFL is an NYC meditation studio. It’s never felt so easy to quiet my mind and the atmosphere was perfectly set up to be relaxing and anti-stress. If you’re interested in meditation at all, it’s worth seeing if it could be something your enjoy. For ways to de-stress, check out She Made the Move’s article 10 Ways to Power Down In New York.

Being star struck by a building.

What was a fleeting moment in your week that made you smile and/or feel lucky?
Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I think you mean “livestock” although the visual of a cow stalking you is pretty funny. I LOVE everything bagels, but I recently switched to a keto diet and carbs are off limits 🙁 Eat one for me.
