I found a t-shirt that might, just might rival the iconic I ♥ NY shirt as the most New York Cliché garment a person can wear.
It’s a t-shirt of nothing but clichés! Pretzels, pigeons, taxis, train cars… the only thing it’s missing is a actor/bartender!
I saw a co-worker wearing this and almost screamed, “OMG!!! YOUR SHIRT IS MY BLOG!!! It’s my blog in shirt form!” But I generally keep my blog to myself in office environments…so I just said the censored small talk version: “OMG I love your shirt! Where’d you get it?”
J. Crew. Not a souvenir shop on canal street, but preppy J. Crew! A New York Cliché shirt I could actually wear in public without immediately being mistaken for a tourist!
I had to have it.
It took a lot of searching. The thing was sold out at J. Crew, making me wonder how I wasn’t some how alerted to it the minute it went on sale. But I was determined. If there’s one thing in all the world I am good at, it’s bargain hunting. When I found it on Poshmark (new with tags”!) I burst out singing, “I’m in a New York state of mind….”
Can you blame me? It’s exciting to wear the cotton embodiment of your blog!
I know, I totally look like a tourist not a blogger. But hey, Tourist in My Town will always be my style more than New York Blogger. Just search the #nycblogger tag on Instagram and you’ll see how out of place I am!
I mean, I’m talking about a shirt you can’t even buy online anymore. That breaks all the blogger rules! IN ADDITION this post is about something I’m wearing and none of the photos have me demurely looking off into the distance! Or tucking my hair wistfully behind my ear! My accessories? They’re blurry and it doesn’t matter! I’M SUCH A REBEL.
Those are just some fashion blogger clichés – you either know exactly what I’m talking about or have NO idea. That’s a-ok. You’re in the right place! Stick with me. I’m a tourist-in-my-town, goofy, no-shame blogger. There’s actually nothing cliché about that and I’m happy to keep it that way!
You are “a tourist-in-my-town, goofy, no-shame blogger. ” And you’re also a lot of fun to read!!

This is such a cute shirt, totally worth the effort haha! ?
How absolutely perfect! You and that shirt were truly meant to be together. And it’s your local tourist/non-#nycblogger vibes that keep us all coming back! That plus the fact that you’re just plain awesome.
Haha, the last bit cracks me up. This is great, and refreshing. The world has enough demure, tucking-hair-behind-ears, looking-into-the-distance bloggers anyhow.
