Walk around to the back of Ladurée in Soho (a upscale bakery known for my favorite – french macarons!) and you will find a delightful wall of whimsical street art.
The adorable little clouds on the sidewalk, the funny stick figures, the trompe-l’œil kid in a backpack creating the whole scene. There’s a lot going on here.
It gets better when you look closer. Better and creepier! Those eyes wearing jaunty hats and funny shoes? Their actual pictures of eyes!
Makes me think Tim Burton would approve.
All of this leads up to the illuminated Ladurée menu and the cafe’s garden area. I’m amused by the contrast of the two – the kooky and le chic. At the very bottom of the wall, you’ll find 2 pink baby heads. upping the creep component significantly.
So come on down to Soho. grab a macaron and pop round to take in the art on this Thompson Street wall. I’m still trying to figure out the street artist who created this – if you know, please drop a comment!
Clever art work…creepy, but clever. The baby heads kind of throw me too! You sure do a good job of finding this stuff!
Tip recently posted…It was a dark and stormy night….
