The season for stuffing your face is practically upon us! November is half over and Thanksgiving is a week away: time flies cliché. I don’t know about you, but ever since the recent cold snap, comfort food has been calling my name. It called me straight into a cozy café in Tribeca, where I was greeted by the most decadent celebration of carbs imaginable.
Oh there’s no place like Maison Kayser for the holidays…
If you’re gluten-intolerant you might want to skip this post…sorry! You can read this one all about Brooklyn’s best chocolate instead!
Maison Kayser is an authentic artisanal French Boulangerie that has taken NYC by storm in the past 5 years. You see, if New Yorkers chose to indulge in bread, we only want the best. And Maison Kayser is just that.
Maison Kayser is the name sake of Eric Kayser, pictured above, showing us that a classic baguette much have not only the right taste but smell and feel as well! A true gluten artist, you might say, I’ve never heard anyone more passionate about anything. Monsieur Kayser’s passion is bread. You can taste that passion in every bite from anything you sample from his 16+ locations in New York. C’est incroyable.
If you want to bring something easy and impressive to a Thanksgiving dinner or holiday party, Maison Kayser has a selection that is très magnifique. Feast your eyes on these:Pick a bread, any bread, you can’t go wrong. Maison Kayser master makers experiment with new recipes constantly to offer the best choice and quality. J’adore the Pumpkin Cranberry Ciabatta and Onion Bread for this time of year especially.
What’s a Boulangerie without the pastries? Now we get seriously decadent, oh la la, très fancy.
Forget all American apple pie because you know the French are better at baked goods than us yanks. Let me convince you that your Thanksgiving 2017 should be all about tarts.
Maison Kayser Pumpkin Tart
Almond and pumpkin glaze, vanilla Chantilly, and pumpkin glaze, topped with SPARKLING CHAMPAGNE CUBES. Is there anything on earth fancier than SPARKLING CHAMPAGNE CUBES? I think not!
I know it may looks like wayyy too much of a departure from mom’s traditional pumpkin pie. Slice it open and you’ll see it’s only an slightly elevated French twist!
Maison Kayser Pecan Tart
Another twist on traditional, adding coffee and chocolate mousse to your classic pecan pie makes this tart extra special. The petit caffeine boost lets you stay awake despite the tryptophan!
If you’re reading this thinking, no way, never, I love my classics just the way they are, thank you very much, Maison Kayser understands! They also offer a simple, classic Apple Tart with nothing but beautiful apple basics. Check it out and Maison Kayser’s full Thanksgiving menu on their USA website.
No doubt the success of Maison Kayer is Monsieur Kayser himself. Not only is Eric Kayser passionate but sincere and kind as well. Très sympatique. It was such a pleasure meet him along with Executive Chef Baker Yann Ledoux and Executive Pastry Chef Nicolas Chevrieux. Currently I’m feeling so honored and grateful to these fellas. Hopefully come January I won’t be cursing them for 10 lbs of holiday weight!
Oh man, I didn’t even mention croissants! Let’s just say, Maison Kayser has so much more – perfect breakfast pastries, cappuccinos, even full menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I absolutely recommend any NYC location as charming place to grab a bite or sit down for a meal.
While I was not paid to write this post, I was put into a complementary food coma by the Maison Kayser team! Merci beaucoup! Full disclosure: the photos are from the past holiday season but I made sure everything still coordinates with the current Maison Kayser Thanksgiving menu! 🙂
Sounds like such a perfect place to go! I love croissants or any kind of baked goods! I bet that being in a French bakery, the croissant were amazing! xx corinne

All of the bread looks so tasty! If there’s one thing I can never get enough of it’s fresh bread and fall/winter are the perfect seasons for it.
