Every Friday I feature some fleeting moments from my week that made me stop and think, “I’m so lucky to live in NYC!” And maybe some that made me think, “Bahaha this city is ridiculous and I love it.” Here we go for this rainy first week of fall…
Rainy Day Reflections
It rained pretty much every day this week, which was rough because I’m still in the process of moving- god knows which box my raincoat, boots, and umbrellas are in. But the one bright side to hurricane season in the city is when it creates double the beauty of NYC’s greatest icons, like this Chrysler Building reflection. I love making passers by do double takes when they try to see why I’m photographing dirty puddles!
Literal NYC Fashion
The new World Trade Center murals are a perfect background for “outfit of the day” Instagram shots. Countless mini fashion shoots were happening all around me when I visited the area over the weekend. This gal was of course my favorite. She’s sightseeing in NYC while wearing an NYC skirt!
Two Firefighters Breaking Down the Doors of a Woman’s Underwear Store!?
Walking to work, I saw fire fighters gathering outside Victoria’s Secret on Lexington Avenue, inspecting the doors, even getting out a scary-looking ax! I have no doubt there was a very serious emergency that was being addressed here…but I also couldn’t help but wonder if this was a scene being filmed for SNL! But there was no camera crew… Maybe Tiffany Trump’s surprise birthday party? Such a funny thing to witness at 9AM.
One Man Subway Station Band
Looking down onto the subway tracks at 42nd Street- Times Square and seeing this street musician and his one man band. I spy with my little eye: TWO tambourines, an acoustic guitar, a melodica, an accordion, and a xylophone. Then in the front, that’s a group of dancing dolls. A perfect storm of quirky, creepy, and soooo New York.
Those were fun little moments of my week. There was also a lot of stress- I finally moved from my sublet into my permanent lease in Sunnyside, Queens!! SO HAPPY and relieved! (And why I missed a post this week.)
