Duane Park takes the classic concept of “dinner and a show” to a whole other sexy, sexy level. The venue features a full menu of delicious-sounding dishes like “Creole Spice-Dusted Nova Scotia Salmon” and “Fillet of Branzino”. But no one goes to Duane Park on Manhattan’s Lower East Side for the food. The full bar offers tantalizing cocktails and an extensive wine list. But no one goes to Duane Park for the booze. They go for the boobs.

Every night of the week, a live band plays and dancers take the stage in a performance style that could have easily gone extinct with the rise of strip clubs and internet porn.

The most jaw dropping revelation of the night was how much of an art form burlesque is. The choreography involved, the incredible skill at connecting with an audience without uttering a word, the command of the stage and crowd. By a skilled performer, the slightest movement of a glove can convey a thousand words. I loved watching that. Plus, who doesn’t love (or at least see the beauty in) boobs and glitter? Come on!

If you’ve seen an R-rated movie (even some PG-13 ones), been the the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, or even just scrolled Instagram today- burlesque may seem pretty tame.

The talent of the performers will make you love it. It’s a dance performance with out the fourth wall and more interesting outfits. It’s a throw back. I couldn’t help but watch and think of the begone era when this was the height of scandal. Now it’s a birthday dinner with your girlfriends, date night with your fella. The emcee will encourage you to take photographs all night and post them far and wide on social media. Of course Duane Park’s Instagram is a sexy, sexy treat.

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Duane Park. I was slightly nervous coming in, being a burlesque virgin and all, but it didn’t take me long to relax and revel in the new experience. A new performing art- it’s really no surprise I loved it!
